Kelly’s close crop

SHEAR DELIGHT: Geelong Cat James Kelly and Jacob MacDonald show off their newly shaved heads. They are pictured, inset, before parting with their locks.CATS star James Kelly was keen to lose his locks at the World’s Greatest Shave yesterday – but admitted there wasn’t much for the taking.

Jacob MacDonald, 12, lopped off Kelly’s short crop at the charity event at Geelong Grammar.

When asked if he’d like to get rid of his stubble too, the midfielder wasn’t as keen. ‘‘It’s taken me about a month to grow this,’’ he said.

Kelly said he was more than happy to support the cause.

‘‘You know the money is going to a good cause and it’s a fun way to raise the money,’’ he said.

He was less happy to talk about the glute injury which will keep him out of the NAB grand final this weekend or whether he will back for the all-important round one clash against Hawthorn.

‘‘I’m not here to talk about footy, I’m here for the shave,’’ he said.

Jacob said he was a Cats fan and was thrilled to have the chance to shave Kelly’s head.

‘‘I reckon we’ll do well this weekend, we’ll win,’’ he said.

The World’s Greatest Shave has raised over $80 million since 1998 for leukaemia research.
